WHAT IS DIRECT VIEW LED (dvLED)?

Seamless, Scalable LED Display Technology

Direct View LED (dvLED) is a display technology that uses individual light-emitting diodes to create images directly, without the backlighting required by traditional LCD displays. The result is a bright, seamless display with excellent contrast and flexible sizing.

Unlike conventional LCD video walls, dvLED displays are assembled from modular LED panels to create a continuous viewing surface without visible bezels. Systems can be configured in a wide range of sizes, resolutions and aspect ratios to suit specific applications.

Direct View LED includes multiple display technologies, including traditional SMD LED, fine-pitch LED and advanced COB LED, with solutions ranging from large-format presentation walls to ultra-high-resolution displays designed for close viewing distances.

DIRECT VIEW LED VS. LCD VIDEO WALLS

A Seamless Alternative to Traditional LCD Video Walls

Traditional LCD video walls combine multiple flat-panel displays to create a larger viewing surface. While effective for many applications, the individual panels introduce visible bezels that interrupt the image.

Direct View LED (dvLED) eliminates these panel boundaries, creating a continuous, seamless display surface. Modular LED technology also provides greater flexibility in display dimensions, aspect ratios and installation design.

With advances in fine-pitch LED technology, dvLED can deliver excellent image clarity at closer viewing distances, making it an attractive option for control rooms, corporate environments, broadcast facilities and large presentation spaces.

Although LCD video walls remain a practical choice for certain budgets and applications, dvLED offers an increasingly compelling solution when seamless image presentation, scalability and visual impact are priorities.

SMD LED DISPLAYS

Surface-Mounted Device (SMD) LED is an established technology used in a wide range of professional LED video walls. It offers flexible configurations and a broad selection of pixel pitches for indoor and outdoor installations.

FINE-PITCH LED DISPLAYS

Fine-pitch LED refers to displays with closely spaced pixels, enabling higher resolution at shorter viewing distances. These systems are particularly suited to corporate boardrooms, broadcast studios, control rooms and other detailed visualization applications.

COB LED DISPLAYS

Chip-on-Board (COB) LED technology mounts LED chips directly onto the module beneath a protective surface. COB delivers exceptional image quality, fine pixel pitches and improved protection against physical damage.
